Cinetone Support

Help with importing, grading and exporting your clips.

How can we help?

For app issues, feedback or feature requests, email Cinetone support.

Include your iPhone model, iOS and Cinetone versions, source format and the steps that failed. Please do not send private footage, passwords or account credentials.

Import and source profiles

Which videos can I use?

Cinetone supports HEVC, ProRes 422 and supported SDR Rec.709 H.264 clips from Photos or Files. It runs on iPhone with iOS 26 or later. Apple Log and Apple Log 2 depend on the recording device and app; choose the profile that matches the actual file.

HLG and PQ HDR sources are not supported. Convert them to SDR Rec.709 in a compatible tool before importing; changing a profile label alone does not convert HDR.

Why are the colors wrong?

Check the source profile first. Applying an Apple Log conversion to Rec.709 footage, or converting a Log clip twice, produces incorrect colors.

Why will a Files import not finish?

Download the original file from its provider first, keep that provider connected and check free storage. Cinetone needs room for a working copy and the exported result.

Looks and .cube files

Import a .cube file through Pro Presets. Select Rec.709 creative, Apple Log to Rec.709 or Apple Log 2 to Rec.709 according to the creator's instructions. Imported presets start as preview-only; only enable export use when you have the appropriate rights.

A LUT stores color changes, not footage. Apply exported LUTs once to matching-profile footage in a compatible application. The receiving app must support the chosen cube size and color workflow.

Video export and background progress

Choose Video for a playable graded MP4, or LUT for a reusable .cube file. You can edit the file name. Video export supports H.264 and, where the device accepts it, HEVC. Output is SDR Rec.709 up to a 1920-pixel long edge, a 1080-pixel short edge and 30 fps, with supported mono or stereo audio encoded as AAC.

Closing the export sheet keeps the job and its ready file available. Background export and its system progress activity depend on iOS admission. Reopen Cinetone to check progress; keep the app open when background continuation is unavailable. GPU availability depends on the device and system state, and background processing may be slower.

If export fails, return to the app, check free storage and retry while it remains open. Include the displayed error when contacting support.

Suggestions, Siri and search

Look Suggestions use on-device analysis by default, with a deterministic fallback when the model is unavailable. On supported iOS 27 devices, you can explicitly opt in to Apple Private Cloud Compute. Return to on-device mode in Look Suggestions settings at any time. Suggestions never apply a grade automatically.

Siri and Shortcuts can open Cinetone to apply a look, request suggestions or start an export. Import a clip first for actions that need footage. Spotlight can find indexed looks and presets; indexing and system availability may affect when results appear.

Removing a source and evaluating color

Use the studio's remove-source control to return to the empty screen. This removes the working source, not your original video in Photos or Files or files already exported elsewhere.

For more consistent color evaluation, review True Tone and Night Shift in iOS Display & Brightness settings. Turning them off reduces adaptive color shifts; it does not calibrate the display. Cinetone cannot toggle these system settings.
